Ninja Tab makes any site look like Google Docs, Gmail or Classroom in your tab bar. One shortcut hides the rest.
Everything works in your browser, with no account and nothing to set up beyond your rules.
Pick one of ten ready-made looks or use any title and icon you like. A rule can cover a whole site, only its subdomains, or one section like reddit.com/r/games.
Press Alt+Shift+B and the tab turns into Google search. It can also mute the tab and blur the page. Press again to come back.
Hide every matching tab at once, or send the current tab to another site and remove it from history.
Visits to your disguised sites are deleted when the tab closes, so they stay out of address-bar suggestions and new-tab shortcuts.
Keep your rules behind a 4-digit PIN, so nobody else can open the settings and see what you hide.
See the real page while you use it. The disguise appears only when you switch to another tab.
Ninja Tab isn't in the Chrome Web Store yet, so Chrome asks you to add it by hand. It takes three steps.
The fastest way: add Ninja Tab from the Chrome Web Store with one click.
Add to ChromeUnzip the file. You'll get a folder called ninja-tab. Keep it somewhere it won't be deleted, because Chrome loads the extension from it.
Copy this address into a new tab, then switch on Developer mode in the top right corner.
chrome://extensions
Click Load unpacked and choose the ninja-tab folder. Then pin the ninja from the puzzle icon so it's one click away.
Chrome may show a note about developer-mode extensions when it starts. That's normal for extensions added this way.
Ninja Tab has no account, no servers and no tracking. Your rules are saved by Chrome on your device, and if you use Chrome sync they follow you to your other computers. Preset icons load from the sites they belong to, the same way any web page loads its icon.
Chrome only allows one-click installs from the Chrome Web Store. Once Ninja Tab is published there, the button at the top of this page will install it directly.
Yes. They're built on the same engine as Chrome. Use edge://extensions in Edge, brave://extensions in Brave and opera://extensions in Opera for step 2.
Ninja Tab changes what the tab bar and your history show. The address bar still shows the real address, and anyone looking at your screen sees the real page unless you press the Boss Key.
Download the new version and replace the old ninja-tab folder with it. Then open chrome://extensions and click the reload arrow on Ninja Tab. Your rules and settings stay.
Yes, completely. There are no ads and no paid version.
